An interview with LYNDSAY

Q: What inspirations came to you while creating ”Dopamine” album?

From my perspective, I feel that I’m constantly evolving and changing as an artist and I really wanted to bring out a different side of me in this album. I’m never afraid to take on a challenge and this is highly reflected in my ambitious personality. In fact, I have teamed up with Highkey Music from the UK to work on this project and I can’t be any happier with the outcome!

Q: If you could choose, which song on your new album means the most to you, and why?

It’s not easy to choose one song from the album as every track has it’s own story but if I had to choose I would go for “I Breathe for You” as the music style is in my comfort zone. It definitely captures that romantic feeling and brings out the best of my voice!

Q: Hey, how would you describe your sound to someone who’s not heard your music before?

I have always considered myself to be a versatile artist and an overall dynamic performer which I suppose is reflected in the music that I record and I like to experiment with different sounds. When it comes to the album, I can describe it as a very commercial sound merging mainstream pop with upbeat dance tunes and emotional tracks whilst varying from one song to another. I believe that this genre allows me to express my feelings and reach the audience in a more direct way.

Q: When did you realize that you wanted to become a musician?

I have always had an ultimate passion for music and this had always been evident from a relatively young age carrying my natural presence and self-confident abilities through each of my stage performances. I find myself to differ from the other acts in the local music industry by bringing about a certain aura, a professional one that incorporates stamina and a pure attitude.

Q: What inspires you the most to write your songs?

In general, I feel that I’m inspired by many different aspects such as my personal experiences, people who affect me in some way or another, my opinions about the world and influences from international artists whilst embodying the catchy appeal of pop music.

Q: Who would be your ultimate dream collaboration with, and why?

My ultimate collaboration dream would be to work with my idol Lady Gaga. She inspires me to never give up in life and teaches me to stay humble with my fans. I know it’s a long shot but hey nothing’s impossible!

Q: If there’s one song from your catalog that you wish everyone in the world could listen to, which one would it be?

I have a very vast repertoire as I have released a number of singles, collaborations, remixes, and two EPs throughout my career. However, I have to admit that my baby remains “Daphne” as it has brought so much success in my career hitting the number one spot in the local radio charts and being nominated during major music events such as the Bay Music Awards and the Malta Music Awards. It’s an emotional power ballad and I think that people can easily relate to it!

Q: What do you have planned for the year ahead?

I’m officially releasing the debut album “Dopamine” on the 20th of September during a launch party at Ivy House, Pembroke where I will be performing a live unplugged session including five unreleased tracks. The twelve songs will then eventually be available on all music platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, and Apple Music for the world to hear! Being a native of Malta, I feel that it’s very limited with opportunities on this tiny island and thus I always aspire to take my music to the next level and hopefully in due time I can set my foot abroad to reach my dreams of becoming an established artist.
